What Is the Underworld?
Most people know the Underworld from Greek mythology — the subterranean realm of Hades, where souls cross over after death. But this archetype belongs to virtually every culture on earth. Across traditions, the story is the same: death is not an ending, but a transition. And that crossing requires a period of reckoning, judgment, and transformation.
In astrology, the Underworld isn’t a physical place. It’s the subconscious terrain of your birth chart — the realm that holds your deepest fears and desires around power, control, intimacy, the taboo, and shared resources and values. While it is most typically mapped through Pluto (the modern ruler of the Underworld, named for the Roman equivalent of Hades), the 8th house, and the sign of Scorpio, remnants and pieces of your personal Underworld can be glimpsed through a comprehensive reading of your birth chart.
My belief — and the foundation of everything I do — is this: just as the Greek Underworld contained many distinct layers and regions, your birth chart contains keys to unlock every dimension of your own shadow. The chart doesn’t just describe who you are. It shows you why — and more importantly, what you’re meant to do with it.
My Approach to Evolutionary Astrology
My name is Anastasia Harris, and I’m here to empower you and teach you how to navigate the terrain of your Underworld.
My method is deliberately multi-layered. Evolutionary astrology, Jungian archetypes, psychological astrology, dark goddess work, and shadow work operate together in my practice to build a complete picture of your personal depths. I also work extensively with asteroids and dwarf planets — including the four Liliths, Eris, and Sedna — whose mythologies map directly onto the darker, more suppressed dimensions of the psyche that are key to reintegrating the shadow.
My background is unconventional for an astrologer. I hold a Master’s in Education with an ESL specialty — where I designed curriculum, trained teachers, and did advocacy work for students and their families — and a B.A. in Journalism with a focus in PR and digital strategy. Before devoting myself to this work full-time I spent years helping startups, small businesses, and underserved communities find their footing and communicate their value. The through-line across all of it is the same thing that drives this work: meeting people exactly where they are, speaking their language, and helping them turn raw material into something that actually serves them.
